ezBookkeeping is a lightweight, open source, self hosted personal finance application for tracking accounts, income and expenses across multiple currencies. It pairs precise double entry style bookkeeping with a fast, mobile friendly web interface, so capturing a purchase takes seconds while the underlying ledger stays accurate, and every figure stays on infrastructure you control.
This image delivers ezBookkeeping 1.6.1 fully installed and configured, so your private bookkeeping service is running within minutes of launch rather than hours. The application ships as a single self contained Go service with its prebuilt web frontend, so there is no interpreter, package manager or build toolchain in the image and the memory footprint stays small. It listens on the loopback address only and an nginx reverse proxy fronts it on port 80, with a raised upload limit for receipt images and import files. An embedded database is used by default, so there is no separate database server to operate and no network reachable datastore is exposed.
Secure by default: many prebuilt images ship with shared or default credentials, a common vulnerability that exposes instances immediately after launch. This image eliminates that risk twice over. The key that signs every login session is generated uniquely for each instance on its first boot, replacing the upstream default that a stock deployment would otherwise use, so sessions cannot be forged from a publicly known value. A single administrator account is created with a unique password stored in a root only file, and self registration is switched off, so a passer by cannot claim ownership of a freshly launched instance before you sign in. Nothing serves a request until that lockdown has completed, and all build time state is wiped before capture so no database, no account and no transaction is baked into the image.
Storage: your database and uploaded receipt images live on a dedicated Azure data disk kept separate from the operating system disk, so your financial data is independently resizable, survives instance replacement and a backup is a single directory.
