Koillection on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS by cloudimg

by cloudimg

Self hosted collection manager for anything you collect, preinstalled and secured by cloudimg.

Koillection is a free, open source, self hosted service for managing any kind of collection. Whether you collect books, comics, coins, stamps, trading cards, vinyl, video games, wine, model kits or anything else, it gives you one private catalogue for all of it. Collections nest as deeply as you need, and custom templates let you define exactly the fields each kind of item should carry, with typed values for text, numbers, dates, prices, ratings, lists, countries, links and images. Everything stays on infrastructure you control, so your catalogue, valuations and photographs never pass through a third party service. This image delivers Koillection 1.8.3 fully installed and configured so a complete collection manager is serving within minutes of launch, eliminating the hours of manual PHP, Symfony, nginx and PostgreSQL setup a self managed deployment requires.

Application stack: Koillection 1.8.3 as a Symfony 8.1 application on PHP 8.5, served by nginx on port 80, backed by a local PostgreSQL 16 database. The web frontend is built at image build time from the project's own webpack sources, and systemd manages every component, starting it on boot and restarting it on failure. The database is bound to localhost only, so no database port is exposed to the network.

Beyond the catalogue itself, Koillection offers tags and tag categories, a wishlist per collection, loan tracking so you know who borrowed what, photo albums, an activity history, per collection display configuration, a full text search across your items, statistics on counts and values, data export, a documented REST API with token authentication, light and dark themes, and interface translations contributed in many languages.

On the first boot of your instance, a one shot service generates a fresh application secret and API signing keypair unique to that instance, rotates the PostgreSQL password, builds the database schema and creates an administrator account with a fresh random password, writing the credentials to a file only the root user can read. The web server is deliberately held back until that has succeeded, so the setup page is never exposed. No shared or default credentials and no collection data ship in the image. Browse to the instance address, sign in as the generated administrator, and create your first collection.
