Locust -- developer load and performance testing with a web dashboard
Locust is an open source load testing tool for developers, QA engineers and site reliability teams. You describe how simulated users behave in a small Python file, then Locust swarms thousands of those users at a web app, API or service and reports response times, throughput and failures live in a web dashboard and a matching JSON stats API. Because scenarios are plain Python they are easy to read, version control and extend, from a single endpoint check to a full user journey.
This cloudimg image runs Locust 2.45.0 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, installed into a pinned, self contained Python environment. The Locust server runs as a dedicated non root service bound only to the loopback interface, behind an nginx reverse proxy on port 80, with an unauthenticated health endpoint for Azure Load Balancer probes. A ready to run sample scenario ships on the image so you can start a test straight away.
The image is secure by default. Locust's own web interface ships with no authentication, so this image protects it with HTTP Basic authentication using a unique password generated on first boot for each instance and stored in a root only file. No credential is baked into the image and no two deployments share one, so the interface is never left open on a fresh instance.
Locust is licensed under the MIT licence and is free to use. The cloudimg charge covers packaging, security patching, image maintenance and 24/7 expert support. See the deployment guide for the full walkthrough. This image is provided by cloudimg and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Locust project.
