Logdy - Real Time Web Log Viewer by cloudimg

Deploy a private, self-hosted real time log viewer on your own Azure infrastructure in minutes - no manual installation, no shared credentials. This image delivers Logdy 0.17.1 fully installed behind an nginx reverse proxy, so a working log viewer answers the moment the VM boots and the whole interface is protected by a credential unique to your machine.

Why This Image Instead of Manual Installation

Installing Logdy by hand means placing the binary, writing a systemd unit, putting it behind a reverse proxy and adding authentication so the log data is not exposed. This image eliminates that operational burden:

  • Logdy 0.17.1 installed as a single self-contained Go binary and managed by systemd
  • Bound to loopback and served through nginx on port 80, ready for your TLS certificate
  • Secure by default: the whole UI, including the WebSocket that streams the log data, is behind HTTP Basic authentication; only a static health endpoint is public
  • No default login: the credential is generated per instance on first boot, stored only as a hash for nginx, and never baked into the image
  • The demo log is populated on first boot so the columns, filters and search work immediately; point Logdy at your own logs in one step
  • Ongoing expert support: 24/7 cloudimg engineers handle upgrades, TLS setup and configuration

Use Case: See and Search Your Logs in a Browser

Instead of SSHing into a box and tailing a file, a team points Logdy at an application log and watches it stream live in a browser, with the structured JSON parsed into sortable columns and one click facet filters for level, service, status and more. With this image they launch a VM, sign in with the per instance credential, and immediately search and filter their logs - all within their own VNet.

Application Stack

Logdy is a single self-contained Go binary that holds logs in an in memory buffer, so it stays lightweight, starts instantly and needs no database. It follows a log source - a file, a program's standard output, or a socket - and serves a browser UI over a WebSocket, with sortable columns, faceted filters, full text search and a per message inspector. Structured JSON logs are parsed into columns automatically, and low-code TypeScript parsers let you shape arbitrary formats. In this image Logdy binds to loopback only and nginx is the sole public listener, enforcing the per VM credential and adding the WebSocket upgrade for the live stream.

Secure By Default

The image ships with no usable credential. On first boot a unique UI password is generated, only its bcrypt hash is written for nginx, and the plaintext is written once to a root only file. The entire interface is gated by HTTP Basic authentication, and only a static health endpoint is left open for liveness checks. Basic authentication uses the Authorization header, so no session cookie is set. Restrict port 80 to trusted networks and terminate TLS at nginx before production.

Getting Started

1. Launch the image on your chosen Azure VM size 2. Read your per instance UI password from the root only file /root/logdy-info.txt 3. Browse to the VM public IP and sign in to see the demo log streaming into columns 4. Disable the demo generator and point Logdy at your own file, journald or socket

Licensing and Pricing

Logdy is licensed under Apache-2.0 and is free; there is no per-seat fee. The cloudimg charge of 0.04 US dollars per vCPU hour covers packaging, security patching, image maintenance, and 24/7 expert support. Restrict port 80 to trusted networks and terminate TLS at nginx before production.

cloudimg Support

24/7 technical support by email covers deployment, upgrades, TLS setup, and configuration. Critical issues receive a one-hour average response time.
