This Azure-based virtual machine is pre-configured with CentOS Stream 9, professionally hardened for security and compliance, with the GNOME desktop environment and xrdp pre-configured for graphical remote access from any standard RDP client.
This image combines two capabilities in one. A full GNOME desktop is accessible over RDP from anywhere with no client-side setup beyond a standard RDP client. The operating system is hardened with secure defaults aligned to established compliance frameworks. Sign in, get a familiar Linux desktop, and work on a security baseline ready for audit-conscious environments.
Security Hardening
This image maps to established standards including the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27000, PCI DSS, and HIPAA. Hardening helps protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats by limiting potential weaknesses that make systems vulnerable.
GNOME Desktop Environment
The full GNOME desktop is pre-installed and configured, including a file manager, terminal, text editor, system settings, and the standard application launchers. Add your own tools and applications using dnf, Flatpak, or other RHEL-family package sources.
RDP Remote Access
xrdp is pre-configured to allow remote desktop sessions over port 3389. Open port 3389 in your Network Security Group, set a password for your user, and connect from any RDP client. Compatible with Windows Remote Desktop, Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac, and Linux RDP clients.

Quick Start
- Deploy the VM and SSH in using your SSH key
