daloRADIUS on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

daloRADIUS is an open source, web based management platform for FreeRADIUS. This cloudimg image ships daloRADIUS 2.3 with a complete RADIUS server behind it, ready the moment the VM boots: Apache and PHP 8.3 serve the operators (admin) and users web interfaces, FreeRADIUS 3 answers authentication and accounting on the standard RADIUS ports, and a bundled local MariaDB holds both the FreeRADIUS tables and the daloRADIUS management tables, all on a hardened, fully patched Ubuntu 24.04 LTS base.

From the operator console you manage RADIUS users, groups, hotspots, NAS devices, IP pools and billing, and view accounting reports and graphs. FreeRADIUS reads its clients from the database, so a NAS you register in the web UI is honoured by the server.

Secure by default

• No known credential ships. The default operator (administrator / radius) and the default FreeRADIUS shared secret (testing123) are both eliminated.
• On the first boot of every VM a one shot service generates a unique operator password, a unique database password and a unique RADIUS shared secret, written to a root only file.
• MariaDB is bound to 127.0.0.1 only and is never exposed to the network.

Licensing — daloRADIUS and FreeRADIUS are open source (GPL) and free of per user or per seat fees. The cloudimg charge covers packaging, security patching, image maintenance and 24/7 support.

Important — daloRADIUS serves plain HTTP on port 80; front it with TLS and your own domain, and restrict the operator console to your management network, before production. Every image is paired with a step by step deploy guide.
