Icinga 2 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS by cloudimg
Icinga 2 is a widely used open source monitoring platform. From an ordinary browser your team can watch the availability and health of hosts, services and network resources, run flexible checks, track state over time and raise notifications. This image is built and maintained by cloudimg on a hardened, fully patched Ubuntu 24.04 LTS base, running the modern Icinga DB stack: the Icinga 2 core, the Icinga DB Redis store, the Icinga DB synchronisation daemon and Icinga Web 2 with the Icinga DB Web module, served over HTTPS by nginx and PHP 8.3 FPM with a bundled local MariaDB server.
Both database schemas are installed and ready, and the core monitors the appliance itself, so hosts and services show live data the moment the VM boots. A unique administrator password is generated on the first boot of every VM, with no default login: Icinga Web 2 ships pre provisioned so there is no setup wizard exposed on the network, and every internal service credential is regenerated per VM. Sign in to Icinga Web 2 over HTTPS as icingaadmin with the password from /root/icinga2-credentials.txt, then watch your hosts and services, review history and configure notifications.
Icinga Web 2 is served over TLS on port 443 with a per VM self signed certificate, and port 80 redirects to it. The bundled MariaDB (127.0.0.1:3306), the Icinga DB Redis store (6380) and the Icinga 2 API (5665) are never opened by the NSG. The databases live on their own dedicated managed data disk. An unauthenticated /healthz endpoint is provided for load balancer probes, and the Icinga 2 API on port 5665 accepts remote nodes and agents when you open it in the NSG.
