Omeka S on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS by cloudimg

Publish digital collections for libraries, archives and museums, ready to sign in over HTTPS.
Omeka S is a web publishing platform for galleries, libraries, archives and museums. It keeps one shared collection of items, item sets and media, each described with Dublin Core and other linked-data vocabularies such as the Bibliographic Ontology and FOAF, using resource templates your team defines. From that single collection you can build any number of independent public websites, each with its own pages, navigation, theme and selection of items, and every resource is also published through a REST API that speaks JSON-LD.
What you get. The official Omeka S 4.2.1 release, fully installed on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Apache 2.4 serves it over HTTPS with PHP 8.3 running through PHP-FPM on a local UNIX socket, backed by a MariaDB database bound to localhost. Thumbnails are generated with PHP's GD library. The installation was completed when the image was built, so there is nothing to set up before you sign in.
No default credential, and no open installer. Omeka S's installer creates the first administrator and is open to anyone until it has been run; on this image it was completed at build time and the web server refuses it, so a stranger can never reach it. On each VM's first boot the image generates its own administrator password, database password and HTTPS certificate and writes the credentials to a file readable only by root, and the web server stays closed until that has finished.
Hardened by default. Only SSH and HTTPS are reachable from outside the VM; port 80 issues a permanent redirect to HTTPS. The database and PHP-FPM are not network services, the application code is read-only to the web server, uploaded files are stored and served but never executed, and password-reset links always point at the VM's own address rather than a hostname supplied by a browser. An Azure public IP that changes across a stop and start is picked up automatically.
