What "Minimal" Means

This edition trims cockpit (the web admin console), tuned (the tuning profile daemon), sos (the support report collector), plymouth (the graphical boot splash) and linux-firmware (firmware for physical NICs, GPUs, wireless and storage controllers an Azure guest's Hyper-V synthetic drivers never load), while keeping systemd, NetworkManager, the SSH server, cloud-init, the Azure Linux Agent, dnf, sudo, chrony and dnf-automatic fully intact. SELinux policy packages are never trim candidates on this image: the trim excludes any package whose name contains "selinux" outright, so the minimal footprint can never come at the cost of the mandatory access control policy. Every removal is verified on the image before it is captured, not merely intended, and the image is rebooted before capture to prove it still boots and reaches the network after the trim.
