SeedDMS is a mature, enterprise ready open source Document Management System used by organisations worldwide to store, version and control access to their documents. It organises files into a browsable folder tree with full version history, controls who can see and edit each folder or document through per object access control lists, runs documents through review and approval workflows, tags them with categories and attributes, and finds them again with full text search, and it exposes a WebDAV endpoint and a REST API. This image is built and maintained by cloudimg on a hardened, fully patched Ubuntu 24.04 LTS base, with SeedDMS 6 served by nginx and PHP 8.3 FPM and a bundled local MariaDB server, so the appliance is complete and useful on its own.

The install wizard is pre completed and locked and the web install tool is removed, so the platform is ready the moment the instance boots. The SeedDMS database is imported and ready. The well known SeedDMS default administrator login is never shipped: a unique administrator password and a unique database password are generated on the first boot of every VM and written to a root only file, and the shipped image carries the administrator password rotated to a discarded random value, so no known or blank credential authenticates. Browse to SeedDMS on port 80, sign in as the admin user, and start organising folders, versioned documents, access control lists, review and approval workflows, categories and full text search.

The bundled MariaDB listens only on the loopback interface (127.0.0.1:3306) and is never exposed to the network. Document content and all writable state are stored under a dedicated directory kept separate from both the web root and the application code, so your files are never web reachable and survive an application upgrade. An unauthenticated /healthz endpoint is provided for load balancer probes. For production, front port 80 with your own domain and TLS.
